Zero Violence254 Walk: Day 6

Day 6 of the Zero Violence Walk.

It's Monday 20th March and the indomitable team of John Burke Baidoo and Douglas Kinyua are striding ever so confidently towards Voi.

So far, they have covered over 80 km in a terrific journey so far, with no sign of breaking down or mental exhaustion.

Leaving Mombasa, they entered the busy industrial area on the outskirts of Mombasa called Mariakani before reaching Mombasa's highest altitude location,an area known as Mazeras.

Mazeras is a dizzying 1,800 meters above sea level.

You can imagine the shock on the human body, as it acclimatizes from a starting point of 1,050 meters sea level (Kwale) to o metes above Sea leavel (Mombasa) and then a high of 1,800 meters above sea level at Mazeras.

It takes time to adjust to such altitude changes.

After Mazeras, they continue along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi highway entering Samburu territory as they finally cross over to Taita Taveta County.

It's here in Taita Taveta County, that they receive a welcome visit from some of our Kenya's top defense forces.

The support that Senior Superintendent Marcela Andanje, NPS SGR Security and her team accord them is simply inspirational.

We shot a video to record it.

See it below.
